I found cycling in Germany a joy, which is why I have returned so often. With a network of over 200 well-signed bicycle touring routes, plus numerous bike lanes when in towns and cities. There was so much to see along the way, including fairytale castles, walled towns, vineyards, historic churches, and much more. Then Bavaria in the south and the Frankfurt area further north were so different, almost like another country.
There is a cycling culture here, so when I did have mechanical trouble, there was no problem finding a bike shop even in a small town. When riding in the countryside, it is not unusual to come across a cafe with outdoor seating full of other cyclists. I had no issues storing my bicycle at any hotel or overnight stopover place.
