Austria

Austria has done a great job of creating a network of paved bicycle paths that cross the entire country, and it is a destination where I frequently return. The popular route along the Danube historic towns, the wine-growing region, the scenic river, and hotels that welcome cyclists daily.

Salzburg, the music city with the commanding fortresses, is the start of the Salzkammergut cycling route through the lakes region. The Tauren bicycle route goes through the mountain valleys before arriving in Salzburg and continuing along a river until reaching Passau and the Danube route.
